The total number of qualifying product units, except for gift certificates, shipped in a calendar month will determine your “tier” level. This does not matter whether products are CE, Unbox, or general products. Once you reach a higher referral fee during the calendar month, this rate will apply as well as to units sold before you reach the next tier.

There are some exceptions to this. These are:

1. For gift certificate sales, you will receive 6 percent of revenues instead of the referral fee rates stated in the table.

2. There is a maximum referral fee of $25 per unit for personal computers.

3. You can only make a referral fee of $1.50 per item for all Unbox products, regardless of the revenues gained from the sale.

4. The referral fees for the AmazonMP3 products are a maximum of $1.50 per unit, even if revenues are higher.

5. Associates receive a $15 bonus added to the percentage of revenues for each Cell Phone with Service Product sold.

An Associate may select either the Classic Fee or Performance Fee Structure throughout the month. The selection deadline is 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the last day of each month. At the end of the month, the selection you had made most recently will be the one that is used for calculating your fees for the entire month. You will keep that enrollment plan for the next month unless canceling.

Amazon believes that the Performance Fee Structure is its most profitable choice, as it gives you the opportunity to receive higher fees when generating enough referrals. The more referrals you have, the better your earnings will be. Therefore, when you become a participant of the Associates program, you immediately are enrolled in the Performance Fee Structure. Amazon states that the extra earnings potential that the Performance Fee Structure provides will encourage Associates to begin sending a great deal of buyers to Amazon right after sending in their application.

Amazon says that its compensation philosophy is simple: “Reward Associates for their contributions to our business in unit volume and in growth. Amazon is a fast growing business and we want our Associates to grow with us.” — From the Amazon Web site.

You will receive your referral fees monthly. About 60 days after each calendar month ends, you will receive a check that covers the referral fees; a gift certificate for buying Amazon products; or a direct deposit into your bank account.
